How To Use a Moka Pot, Stovetop Espresso Maker
This type of stovetop coffee maker brews a thicker and richer coffee than a normal electric coffee percolator. This type of coffee is called Italian coffee, moka pot coffee or stovetop espresso. It’s commonly compared to a shot of espresso.
Step 1: Water
Add water into the bottom chamber. It’s optional to boil water beforehand. Keep the water level below the brass safety valve.
Step 2: Coffee
Add freshly ground coffee into the funnel/filter basket. Do not tamp or compress the grinds.
Step 3: Insert funnel & Assemble
Add the coffee funnel to the bottom chamber. Tightly screw on the upper chamber.
Step 4: Brew & Serve
Place the moka pot on your stovetop on low/medium heat for a consistent brew. Turn off heat when gurgling. Enjoy!
Care and Safety Guidelines
Here are few cleaning and safety guidelines to follow when using the MILANO STEEL Moka Pot.
- Always fill the bottom chamber with water just below the safety valve in step 1
- Do not tamp or compress the coffee grounds in the coffee funnel in step 2
- Place the moka pot on the edge of the burner so that the handle isn’t directly over the burner
- Do not let water sit in the stovetop espresso maker when not in use
- Clean and dry thoroughly after each use
- Never use scouring pads or harsh detergents
- Always keep away from children
- Always keep lid closed while the coffee is brewing for your safety
Stainless Steel Vs. Aluminum Moka Pots
Many people prefer a stainless steel stovetop espresso maker over an aluminium one due to it’s durable material, stovetop compatibility, and the fact that it’s dishwasher safe. Aluminum moka pot cannot be washed in the dishwasher.
Both types of Moka pots can brew bold moka coffee on gas stoves, electric coil stoves, glass stoves, propane stoves and even over low flame fires. However, the most significant advantages of stainless steel Moka pots is their compatibility with induction stovetops.
Induction cooking has gained popularity due to its efficiency and precise temperature control. Unlike other stovetop types, induction stovetops require a magnetic material to generate heat. Stainless steel is magnetic, making it the perfect material for use on induction stovetops. This means that stainless steel Moka pots can seamlessly integrate into modern kitchens equipped with induction cooktops, providing coffee lovers with a wider range of options for brewing their favorite espresso.
Great Travel & Camping Coffee Maker
The MILANO STEEL is not just a fantastic choice for brewing strong coffee at home, but it is also ideal for creating tasty coffee while experiencing the great outdoors. This espresso maker for stovetops is convenient to pack and does not need electricity to work.
Simply place it on a portable camping stove or a gentle fire, and it will produce the same delicious coffee that you savor in the comfort of your home. Pack some coffee beans, a manual coffee grinder, and the MILANO STEEL Stainless Steel Moka Pot, and you are ready to go.
